Dear friends,
It would have been very important to be present in the CIV meeting in Paris
but we have decided to save our budget to offer convenient services and
convoke as many crews and accompaning people as possible.
The 43rd. Vaurien World Championship in Uruguay is going to be held to the
memory and in honour of Mr. Jean Jacques Herbulot, because together with his
small boat he designed a philosophy, that we now enjoy in America and is
carried out dedicated to the friends of the World.
For this reason we propose this to World championship be an open one, in
which different generations of the Vaurien class can meet as participants,
authorities or just visitors.
Organize : Yacht Club Paysandú, Yacht Club Punta del Este, Asociación
Vaurien Uruguay and Comite Internacional du Vaurien.
Colaboran : Club de los Balleneros, Uruguayan Yacht Club , Ministry of
Sports, Ministry of Tourism, Government of the city of Punta del Este,
Prefectura Nacional Naval, Naval School y Dirección Nacional de Hidrografía.
Control: Uruguayan Sailing Federation.
Uruguayan Yacht Club has withdrawn from the organization, anyway they are
going to collaborate and support the event, Yacht Club Punta del Este is
going to be included in the organization, offering the necessary facilities.

Lodging:
Sports Center facilities (Campus de Maldonado), 10 Kms. far from the port,
100 free lodging places and transport, only for the participants.
Option suggested for crews, authorities and companions, cozy and near the
port two star Hotels, 10 per person and per day.
Meals:
A lunch pack for the participants is included with the entrance fee.
Restaurants with special prices for all visitors: Breakfast 2, Lunch 5,
Dinner 5.
Reference price: Mac Donald’s Big Mac Menu 2.
Car rental rates:
Europcar reference price U$S 25/day, insurance included.
Entrance fee:
U$S 100, lunch pack, social events and tours included.
The distance from Montevideo to Punta del Este is 120 Kms. You can take a
bus at the International Airport, the cost of the bus ticket is 3.
Pluna-Varig airline has established some changes in the ticket prices due to
the Euro-Dollar variations. Prices include all taxes and discounts authorized by de airline.
All connections must be via Madrid with Pluna flight.

Of course, each one can choose the way of coming and if in Europe is
possible to get better air fares than we can offer. We are now waiting air
fares from two new airlines so as to inform you as soon as possible.
The transport of the container from Europe to Montevideo takes 20 days, I
suggest to load on the firsts days of March. It is also important to consult
in Europe the possibility of getting lower rates than offered by
Mediterranean Shipping Company in Uruguay.
We would like to know if the CIV can coordinate to get two or three free
second hand boats, to be offered to the clubs sailing schools for promotion
of the Vaurien class.
